- Akonix acquired Natural Messaging, Inc., a developer of interactive IM applications for the enterprise. Akonix will add Natural's technology to the Akonix L7 Enterprise IM gateway to deliver capabilities for leveraging presence and IM throughout the enterprise. "The Natural Messaging application framework leverages open standards, including voiceXML, to enable simple, conversational interaction with applications through IM interfaces. The Natural Messaging platform has been deployed by leading customers in the telecommunications, technology and financial services industries over the past 12 months. One such application allows a sales person to use IM to query their company's product information database and immediately return up-to-date competitive information from their desktop, mobile PC or wireless device while on a sales call." Comment: So now all of the 'big three' IM gateway providers have these capabilities ... FaceTime has offered such technology for the longest period, IMlogic's very recently announced it with IMlinkage, and Akonix has moved today. With respect to the richness of application integration, my hunch goes with FaceTime and IMlogic as first equal, with Akonix in third place. Akonix
