Today's highlights: New customer for Parlano; Hard Road for Microsoft Office System; AIM and Outlook; Siemens on Fragmented Communication Tools;
- New customer for Parlano: Cargill Investor Services, a financial services subsidiary of Cargill Inc. "CIS is utilizing MindAlign to increase the visibility of, and access to, coworkers and information and communicate more effectively across its global operations. After initially evaluating competing vendors and homegrown approaches to persistent group chat, CIS selected Parlano's MindAlign, determining the other solutions required extensive customization and development to reach MindAlign's out-of-the-box capabilities. The ability to prioritize communications in MindAlign enables individuals to integrate the management and flow of information seamlessly with their existing processes. Receiving pertinent information faster and more clearly than other communications helps realize a tangible impact in increased marketing opportunities and client satisfaction. BusinessWire
- The Microsoft Office System is facing a hard road, with low adoption of the more complex capabilities. Reasons: the new servers are a harder sell than a word processing application, the offering bridges two camps in organizations (making a decision harder to come by), and that the message is disjointed and difficult to understand. - AOL is adding presence from the AIM service to Microsoft Outlook, enabling the display of presence for Outlook contacts, and the adding of Outlook contacts to the AIM buddy list. Available soon. BetaNews
