- Infommersion introduced Xcelsius for SharePoint, for the publication of visual business information using SharePoint Portal Server. For producing interactive executive dashboards, charts and graphs, and more. Available September 2005. Infommersion
- Word on the street is that Good Technology is purchasing JP Mobile, another provider of wireless email and data access. JP Mobile's SureWave Mobile Office enables wireless access to GroupWise and Domino, two platforms Good doesn't support, as well as Exchange, which has been Good's sole focus until now. - Mike Drips, a technology consultant focused on the Microsoft stack, writes about "five things wrong with SharePoint". #1 "It's a crappy mish-mash of multiple technologies"; #2 "The development team is playing the Longhorn card"; #3 "There are two SharePoint products, which is confusing"; #4 "Support for SharePoint is lacking"; and #5 "Microsoft has not stated a strategic direction for SharePoint" (which I said months ago). - Microsoft announced the "RTC Presence Toolkit", to enable business partners and ISVs to embed Microsoft Office Live Communications Server functionality (presence, IM, and call control) into their applications. Availability date not released. eWeek
